History

Hollingworth Juniors Football Club has been established since 1988.

The first ever meeting of the club took place in the Royal Oak Public House, Hollingworth. The committee was formed and the foundations were set in place to provide junior football within the local community.

The club started with one team and by 1995, when Hollingworth Old Boys was formed and became part of the club, the juniors section had boys teams from under 9s to under 16s.

A girls section was also formed in 1998 which developed to 3 teams and an open age team, but sadly we have not been unable to maintain the girls football.

The clubs emphasis was mainly on providing football, but in 2000 we created Hollingworth Juniors Basketball section. The basketball section provided alternative sports and to date has been a great success and one of the players has become an England and Great Britain International.

In February 2006 the Club were awarded the Football Associations prestigious Charter Standard Club Status and in May 2008 the club achieved Charter Standard Development Club status. The award is a result of everyones hard work both past and present players and committee members, and its an honour we are very proud of.

The club provide team managers and assistants with help in developing football coaching skills, personal skills and volunteers through various Coach Education courses which help to promote and deliver a large Community Activity in the area providing Football and Leisure opportunities to an estimated 365 youngsters every week.

Social

We have a number of social events which run on an annual basis. One of these is the Sportsmans Dinner.

Here is a picture of the very first. Can you name each person (Including the celebrities), the venue, and guess the year?
